Welcome back, Books After Dark fam — it’s your boy Mr. Steve, and today we’ve got some money-making news that might raise a few eyebrows.
According to a recent MSN report, some remote workers in 2025 are quietly pulling in over $1 million a year. Not from launching startups, not from stock trading, not from hitting the jackpot — but by secretly juggling multiple full-time jobs.
That’s right: one laptop, two bosses… sometimes even three or more paychecks, all while sitting in the same home office.
Now, I’m not here to tell you to try this (your HR department would probably pass out). But I am here to break down the tools and strategies these workers are reportedly using — tools you can apply to get more done at your own job for a little more work life balance, or boost your side hustle, or balance multiple streams of income without burning out.
👉 Disclaimer: This post is for educational and entertainment purposes only. It’s not legal or career advice. I’m just spilling the tea on what’s being reported.
The MSN Claim
MSN turned heads with its report that some remote workers in 2025 are secretly making $1 million or more by stacking jobs—all from a home office. And, it’s not a small weird fringe: Business Insider went deep on this, interviewing 29 “overemployed” professionals managing multiple full-time roles. One IT worker is pulling in $300K a year from two gigs.
Another California-based Gen Xer quietly raked in over $1 million in 2022, all while keeping total hours under a typical workweek.
And Fortune reports that Gen Zers are doing it too, juggling two to five jobs at once–or what some Gen Zers have referred to this type of “overemployment” as polyworking.
And here’s where it gets really wild:
👉 Research by Paychex found that 40% of U.S. workers were juggling two jobs back in 2023. But the youngest workers? Gen Z went full “polyworker” mode — 93% splitting their time between multiple employers. Compare that to just 28% of baby boomers and 23% of Gen Xers holding down three or more jobs.
So, you might ask, please explain, how remote workers in 2025 are secretly making $1M a year?
- Stack high-paying remote roles,
- automate the busy work,
- and keep your calendar on lockdown.
The Tools They're Using
So, how are people pulling this off? According to MSN and other reports, the “secret sauce” isn’t superhero-level multitasking — it’s the tools.
Here are the ones that kept coming up:
Project & Task Management
- Notion, Asana, Trello — keep multiple bosses happy by organizing projects in one dashboard.
AI Assistants & Productivity Boosters
- ChatGPT, Grammarly, Jasper — handle drafts, reports, and communication faster than doing it all solo.
- Otter.ai, Fireflies.ai — auto-transcribe and summarize meetings you can’t fully attend.
- Apple Notes – transcribe meetings for note-taking, a great alternative to Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai.
Calendar & Time Blocking
- Google Calendar, Motion, Calendly — schedule like a pro and avoid double-booking disasters.
Focus & Efficiency Tools
- RescueTime, Freedom, Focus@Will — cut distractions so you can actually deliver.
What the Law Says About Holding Down Multiple Gigs
Now, before you start fantasizing about triple paychecks, let’s spill some legal tea.
Here’s the truth: there’s no law outright banning you from holding multiple jobs — at least not in the U.S. or the U.K.
But — and it’s a big BUT — your employment contract probably has fine print. So before you even think about “overemployment,” double-check your offer letter, contract, or company policy. If it forbids other work, you could be setting yourself up for trouble.
Mr. Steve Take
Here’s the deal: Whether you’re running multiple jobs or just trying to excel at one, these tools are powerful.
They can help you:
- Automate busywork so you have time for big-picture projects.
- Improve your focus and efficiency (less stress, fewer missed deadlines).
- Balance a demanding day job with a side hustle or passion project.
Do you need to run two jobs to use these? Nope.
But if remote workers out there are making $1M a year by leveraging them… imagine what they could do for your hustle.
Final Word
Now you’ve got all the tea — straight from MSN and other outlets.
And remember: while there might not be any laws in your country against holding multiple jobs, your contract could snitch on you — and the consequences might cost more than the extra paycheck.
But one thing’s clear: the future of work belongs to those who learn how to work smarter, not harder.

Once upon a time, in a land of mystery and darkness, there was a man named Mr. Steve. He wasn't just any ordinary man, though. He founded Books After Dark, a platform for all things dark, mysterious, and self-publishing. Mr. Steve was a man of many talents. He was a contributing writer, graphic designer, and video creator. He had even ventured into the world of self-publishing, selling thousands of his books worldwide. Despite his success, Mr. Steve didn't want to keep all the secrets of self-publishing to himself. He wanted to provide education on self-publishing, affiliate marketing, and other online money-making opportunities. So thus, Books After Dark was born to help other aspiring authors and artists find success in the online world. In recent times, Mr. Steve has even delved into the world of low-content books, and he's excited to share his journey with others on the "Make Money Online with Books After Dark" YouTube channel. While he currently doesn't sell or promote his book titles through Books After Dark, who knows what the future holds? Mr. Steve is always up for a good mystery, and there's no telling what dark and mysterious tale he might come up with next.
